Recruitment process guide

Overview

To recruit staff you must follow all of the steps in the guide in order. These steps apply for all staff recruitment including:

  • Replacement of staff that are leaving
  • Temporary or agency staff
  • New roles

All recruitment, with the exception of agency staff, should be processed through the council’s recruitment platform, Business World Recruitment (BWR) / Hireserve. This ensures that all opportunities are posted on redeployment, in line with Cheshire East Council’s policy.

If you want to appoint directly to a post and bypass the usual advertising, you will need HR approval. If approval is given, the appointment should still be processed through the BWR system as this ensures that all the relevant documents and checks are performed through the Sourcing Team.

Hiring managers must follow each step of the recruitment process (1-9). Use the checklist in each section for step by step guidance.
