Paternity leave and pay

The paternity policy and procedure (MS Word, 91KB) provides eligible staff paid leave if they meet the following criteria:

• their wife, civil partner or partner gives birth to a child
• they are the biological father of the child
• they have 26 weeks continuous service by the end of the qualifying week (the 15th week before the expected week of childbirth)

If you have less than 26 weeks service by the end of the qualifying week then one week paternity leave maybe taken.
