Probationary period and review

New Cheshire East Council staff need to complete a 25 week probationary period. Over the 25 week period, reviews of performance should be carried out at:

Completed forms need to be sent to the Transaction Service Centre (TSC) via the online form: Recruitment and Pay enquiry, selecting Cheshire East Council when asked which organisation the query relates to.

Recording the review in Unit 4

Managers should record details of the outcome of each review conversation in the Probation tab in the employment record in Unit4.

Further guidance for managers can be found on the Unit4 support site. Enter the password ‘Unit4’ (this is case sensitive).

Click on the 'HR/Payroll' category and scroll to the 'Probation' tab. 

These reviews provide an opportunity for staff to have a planned induction, management support and training. They also help managers respond quickly and professionally to any concerns about conduct or performance during this time.

The probationary period is for all new employees to Cheshire East Council, including those from other authorities.
