Eye tests
If you use a screen for an hour or more daily, you might be eligible for a free eye test. First you need to get approval from your manager, as your service will cover the cost.
You may be entitled to further tests at regular intervals if DSE work is considered to cause you visual fatigue.
First, you need to complete or review your DSE risk assessment. You can do so by initially completing the assessment at the end of you e-learning, which is on learning lounge. However, it should be updated regularly especially if there are changes to your work situation.
For full details about eyesight tests, and completing assessments refer to the Health and Safety DSE Guidance note.
Glasses required for DSE only
If you are tested and require glasses for DSE use only then your manager should contribute £25.00 towards the purchase of your glasses.
Glasses are only provided when they are needed solely for DSE work. If your normal glasses are suitable then it is not necessary for your employer to pay for them.
Keep all receipts as your manager may want to see these as proof of purchase or need for prescription glasses.
