Capability

The Council relies on the commitment, skills and ability of everyone who works for us. We believe that it is important that you are recognised and valued for your efforts and achievements, and that we provide honest and meaningful feedback on areas where you can improve and develop your talent for your own benefit and that of the Council.

Where it has been identified that an employee member of staff is not performing effectively, we will make sure that we have a proper framework for dealing with performance in order that people can be treated fairly and consistently.

• Capability toolkit for managers (MS Word, 120KB) - provides the template letters to be used when handling capability at work.
  You need to download the letter head template and then copy and paste the appropriate content from the toolkit to create the letter.
• Template action plan (MS Word, 60KB) - a plan to improve employee’s performance. 
• Employee capability appeal form (MS Word, 25KB) - form to be completed if employees wish to appeal against a formal written improvement notice or a dismissal.
