Order secure locked wallets

If you have to transport paper information which contains personal or special category data about Cheshire East Council staff or its residents, then you should use a secure locked wallet.

Personal data means any information relating to an identified or identifiable living individual.

Special category data is personal data which the General Data Protection Regulation says is more sensitive, and so needs more protection. Examples include racial or ethnic origin, data concerning health and data concerning a person’s sex life or sexual orientation.

Further information can be found on the Data Protection page.

Secure wallet

Using a wallet reduces the chance of a data breach occurring by providing a way of securely transporting information to and from council offices or service users’ homes.

Get a secure locked wallet

You can order a secure locked wallet from ICT Business Support, stating;

  • how many you would like
  • your name

Order additional tags for use with the wallet

Tags

You will initially receive a number of tags to use with the wallets. You can order additional tags from Banner. The product is GoSecure Blue Plain Security Seals (Pack of 500) and the catalogue code is 0160391.

You can gain access to Banner on the office supplies and print consumables page.

How to use the wallets

Only take paper documents off-site if it is a necessity.

Each time you use a secure locked wallet place a tag on the zip. If you misplace the wallet, having a tag placed on the zip provides confirmation that no one has tampered with the wallet.

If possible, scan the document or store the information electronically on a secure system. The minimum amount of paper documents should be taken off site and only for a minimum duration.
