The Housing Options team is responsible for:
Responsible for the oversight of housing options policies and strategies such as the common Allocations Policy and the Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Strategy and ensuring legal alignment of the service. Conducting reviews, appeals and handling service complaints.
Responsible for the prevention of homelessness, working with households at risk of homelessness and seeing solutions. Also, responsible for the assessment of housing applications for social housing through the Cheshire Homechoice website.
Conducting homelessness assessments in accordance with the Homelessness Reduction Act. Providing access to temporary accommodation and developing support and action plans to help homeless people find long term accommodation.
Assessing applications for and allocating accommodation based and floating Housing Support Services. Manging the contracts with the support providers to ensure commissioned support services are aligned with the Council’s values.
Delivering in person one-to-one support for people who are in temporary accommodation, rough sleeping or struggling in long term tenancies. The tenancy support is aimed at settling people into a new tenancy or supporting them to sustain a tenancy that has become unstable.
