Get Google Analytics stats for web pages

You can access stats for the Cheshire East website, centranet, and other Cheshire East maintained websites using Google Analytics. This includes number of page views, number of visitors, what they search for, and how they access the site (for example, tablet, mobile, desktop).

Google Analytics 4 (GA4)

The previous version of Google Analytics known as UA or GA3, stopped collecting data in July 2023. These accounts are still available as an archive. Should you wish to access analytics from July 2023 to present date, select a property marked as GA4.

Log-in to Analytics

  1. Open the Google Chrome browser (this works much better than Microsoft Edge for analytics)
  2. Go to https://analytics.google.com/
  3. Log-in with the following details:
    • Email: webstats@cheshireeast.gov.uk
    • Password: CheshEastSt6ts!
  4. You will be asked for a verification code. This will be emailed to web team so you'll need to email webteam@cheshireeast.gov.uk to ask for it.

You will only need a verification code the first time you access analytics.

Interpreting stats

Statistics are a useful indicator for information such as which pages are most popular, but you should use them with caution.

For example, you might think that a high 'average time on page' means that users are finding a page really interesting. However it might be that the page is too complicated and that they are struggling to find the information they need!

Use 'qualitative data' like rate this page feedback, conversations with users, and guidance from the web team alongside the stats to assess the success and usability of web pages.
