The Chest: e-Procurement system
The Chest is the North West region's contract and tender management system. It is an electronic-based system for the issuing and receiving of procurement documents.
Buyers and suppliers can upload / download prequalification questionnaires and invitation to tender / Request for Quotation documentation.
This eliminates the need to send hard copy tenders by post and provides a full audit trail.
When you should use The Chest
You should use the Chest for:
- All procurements above £25,000
- Requesting quotations between £10,000 and £25,000 if high risk - use the RFQ (Request For Quotation) process within the Chest.
It is optional to use the Chest for low risk quotations between £10,000 and £25,000, and for quotations below £10,000. You can do this using the Quick Quote Module within the Chest. Or you can request quotes by email.
Access to The Chest for staff
Access to The Chest is restricted primarily to the Procurement Team, if you need to advertise an opportunity on The Chest contact procurement.
How suppliers register
Suppliers need to register their details on The Chest to become aware of any relevant tendering activity using the 'register free' option on: www.the-chest.org.uk.
The Doing business with Cheshire East Council page informs suppliers of the system requirements and provides links to the Contract and Tender Management System.
Chambers of Commerce have been notified, as have all suppliers receiving electronic purchase orders.
