Insurance claims information and guidance
Overview
Chief Officers and Heads of Service must inform the Insurance Team immediately of:
- any insurance claims received, or emails, letters that mention compensation or claim.
- events that may result in an insurance claim against the Council – i.e an employee is injured during the course of his employment. Where an injury has been notified, either to a Council employee or member of the public, details should be recorded on PRIME and all associated documents attached.
All relevant details should be sent to
insuranceteam@cheshireeast.gov.uk.
What to do if you receive a claim
If you receive a claim from a third party or any correspondence that mentions words such as “compensation”, “liable” or “negligence”, please forward it unanswered to the Insurance Team.
Responding to the claimant starts a strict legal timeframe, so it is important that claims are passed to us as soon as possible as we need to inform the Insurer.
We may ask you for further information relating to the claim, so please ensure that any documents or equipment relating to the incident is retained.
- Motor claims relating to vehicles sourced by the Integrated Transport Team (ANSA) should be sent to: Fleet.admin@ansa.co.uk. Tel: 01270 686220.
Emails from Aquarium claims database
We use a secure email between external clients and Council services for insurance claims. This ensures we keep personal information safe when sending personal information over the internet.
Emails from the insurance team will appear in recipient’s outlook in boxes stating that they are from insuranceclaimssecure@cheshireeast.gov.uk with the strap line of 'Cheshire East Insurance Team – Insurance Claim Email Requiring Urgent Attention'. This is not spam.
All instructions to access the email are contained in the Secure email portal – receiver instructions document (MS Word, 422KB). This will require an initial registration onto the Aquarium system.
