Apply for an Amazon business account
The Amazon Business Account is for use by Officers with the use of a Cheshire East Council Purchase Card only, and must not be used for any Personal transactions with any other Payment Card.
Most CEC staff who use Amazon already have an account created using their CEC email address.
Cheshire East Council now has an account with Amazon Business administered by Procurement. Officers will be invited to join the Business Account by way of an “Invitation”.
This invitation is automatically generated by Amazon Business when the officer details have been created under the appropriate Team (Cost Centre) in Amazon.

How to get an Amazon business account
To obtain an Amazon business account login, you will need the following information to complete the below online form. It will take 5 minutes to complete.
- Cost Centre (7 digit code)
- Cost Centre Description
- Names and email addresses of Requisitioners
Apply for an Amazon business account
Procurement will create the accounts in Amazon Business with the Cheshire East email address of staff. Staff will then receive an automated Amazon invitation email.
What you can do
- A Requisitioner can place orders
You can track orders and manage them by setting up custom order fields that display on order documentation and reports. There can be up to 6 fields enabled that can be either optional or mandatory, as below:
- PO Number – not used
- GL Code – not used
- Cost Centre – used (mandatory)
- Location – not used
- Project Code – not used
- Department – not used
Currently, the “Cost Centre” field is mandatory to allow officers who purchase on behalf of other Cost Centres to make the differentiation at the point of order.
The Payment Method will be via your Payment Card.
Two factor authentication
It is a requirement that when logging into Amazon you use 2 factor authentications using an authenticator app.
Reporting
Reports can be run and downloaded to a CSV file for all order history. If the officer had an Amazon account previously with a Cheshire East email address associated to it, all previous order history for that officer will import into the business account order history.
Whilst the reporting does not display level 3 detail, it is possible to interrogate any individual order to see the detail of the items within the order. This is possible for all orders since the creation of the Amazon Business Account and for all historical orders associated with the email address.
Amazon Prime
Amazon Business have now introduced "Business Prime" whereby all Amazon Business user will have the advantage of fast, free business delivery and convenient business delivery.
Officers should not create a PRIME account in the business name of Cheshire East Council.
