Strategic Planning

The Strategic Planning team:

Produces the Cheshire East Local Plan, which sets planning policies, allocates sites for development and is used to make decisions on planning applications. It includes matters such as: the amount and locations of new housing and employment development, protection and improvement of open areas, provision of new infrastructure, improvement of town centres and community facilities, provision of minerals, and management of waste.
Prepares other planning guidance, such as supplementary planning documents and development briefs for particular topics or locations.
Produces research and evidence to support these policies.
Publishes other planning documents, including Article 4 Directions, Local Development Orders, the Brownfield Land Register, the Community Infrastructure Levy, the Authority Monitoring Report, and the Statement of Community Involvement.
Inputs into sub-regional, regional and national plans and polices to take account of matters of importance to Cheshire East and liaises with adjoining authorities on cross-boundary issues.
Supports local communities in producing their own Neighbourhood Plans
