Animal Health and Welfare team

The Animal Health and Welfare team are part of the Regulatory Services and Health Department and are responsible for:

  • inspection of farms and animal gatherings including livestock markets
  • licensing of pet shops, animal boarders (kennels, catteries, day care for dogs and home boarding of dogs), dog breeders, hiring of horses, animal exhibits, zoos and keepers of dangerous wild animals
  • advice regarding and enforcement of legislation relating to livestock disease control, identification, transport and movement
  • on-farm feed inspections
